Town of Vegreville Enacts Facility Restrictions

Vegreville, AB (September 23, 2021) – In step with the Government of Alberta’s announcement of additional COVID-19 mitigation measures on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, the Town of Vegreville will be implementing restrictions at all town operated facilities.
At the consensus of council, reached during a special meeting held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, it was determined that the following restrictions are now in effect:
Administration Building: The Administration Building, including Vegreville & District FCSS and Infrastructure, Planning and Development offices as well as Council Chambers, will operate with a capacity limit of 1/3 of the fire code occupancy. Additionally, all staff, patrons and visitors of the facility are required to mask and ensure 2-metres of physical distancing between themselves and others.
Vegreville Aquatic & Fitness Facility: The Vegreville Aquatic and Fitness Facility will implement the Restrictions Exemption Program. As outlined by the Government of Alberta, vaccine eligible facility users, including those using the pool, weight room, cardio room, and racquetball, wallyball and squash courts, will now require proof of vaccination or proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of entry into the facility.
Wally Fedun Arena, Dance Studio (adjacent to Arena), Vegreville Centennial Library Gymnasium and Vegreville Multiplex: The Wally Fedun Arena, Dance Studio, the Vegreville Centennial Library Gymnasium & the Vegreville Multiplex will implement the Restrictions Exemption Program. As outlined by the Government of Alberta, vaccine eligible facility users will require proof of vaccination or proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of entry into the facility UNLESS THE USER/USER GROUP IS AFFILIATED WITH/SPECTATOR OF A YOUTH (ages 17 & under) SPORT ACTIVITY.
• Youth Sport Activity Restrictions in effect are:
o User Groups of the facility will be responsible to ensure their participants are screened for symptoms.
o User Groups of the facility will ensure their participants are masked, except while engaging in physical activity.
o User Groups of the facility will ensure their participants maintain 2 meters distancing, except while engaged in physical activity.
o The facility will operate with a capacity limit of 1/3 of the fire code occupancy.
o Spectators/Attendees of the youth sport activity will be limited to a single household or 2 close contacts, if living alone. Additionally, spectators/attendees must be masked and must maintain 2 meters distancing.
Vegreville Sanitary Landfill: The landfill office area will be limited to one patron at a time. Masks will be mandatory to enter the office area.
Vegreville Social Centre: The Social Centre will implement the Restrictions Exemption Program. Lease holders of this facility will be held legally responsible to ensure that, as outlined by the Government of Alberta, all vaccine eligible guests attending the event at the Social Centre as organized by the lessee provide either proof of double vaccination or proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of entry into the facility.
Public Works Building: The Public Works building will be closed to the public. A phone number will be posted on the door of the building and, for public/customers to enter, an appointment must be scheduled, and the individual(s) must provide proof of double vaccination.
Vegreville Material Recovery Facility (VMRF): The Vegreville Materials Recovery Facility will be closed to the public. A phone number will be posted on the door of the building and, for public/customers to enter, an appointment must be scheduled, and the individual(s) must provide proof of double vaccination.
Visitor Information Centre (VIC): The Vegreville Information Centre will operate with a capacity limit of 1/3 of the fire code occupancy. Additionally, all staff, patrons and visitors of the facility are required to mask and ensure 2-metres of physical distancing between themselves and others. (Note: The Vegreville Information Centre will close for the season on Sunday, September 26, 2021)
Emergency Services (Fire Hall): The Emergency Services building will be closed to the public. A phone number will be posted on the door of the building and for public/customers to enter, an appointment must be scheduled, and the individual(s) must provide proof of double vaccination.
Vegreville Museum: Closed to the public.
Vegreville Event Centre (located at the Vegreville Museum): Closed to the public.
As per the Government of Alberta, to enter spaces now participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program, people ages 12 and older can provide proof of vaccination, documentation of a medical exemption or proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of entry into the facility
• September 20 to October 25: proof of single dose is considered acceptable if the dose was given more than two weeks before entering the facility.
• After October 25, 2021: proof of double vaccination will be required to enter the facility.
