RCMP Lay Second Degree Murder Charge

Saddle Lake, Alta. – The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has laid a second-degree murder charge against Peter Faron Cardinal (38) in the death of 55-year-old Faron Houle of Saddle Lake.
On July 8, 2020, at 5:41 p.m., St. Paul RCMP responded to a complaint of an unwanted male at a residence. The unwanted male, determined to be Peter Cardinal, fled prior to police arrival. When the RCMP went into the residence, they were advised that a male was believed to be deceased. Despite the responding RCMP officer initiating first aid efforts, EMS declared Faron Houle deceased.
The death was determined to be suspicious, and the RCMP MCU took carriage of the investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section. On July 10, Peter Cardinal was arrested and subsequently charged for the murder of Faron Houle.
A judicial interim release hearing has been held and Cardinal is remanded for a court appearance on July 30, 2020, in St. Paul Provincial Court.
The RCMP are not looking for any further suspects related to this incident.
