Dear friends and neighbours:
Happy September. It is great to hear the hum of combines throughout the constituency.
On Wednesday, September 2 I was extremely proud to announce a major funding partnership between the provincial government, the Town of Vegreville and the federal government. As your MLA, I am honoured to advocate for this constituency of Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville.
The provincial, municipal, and federal governments will provide a combined $9.9 million to build an Agri-Food Industrial Park, which will create 200 jobs in the community.
The Industrial Park will be located on the east side of town, with construction expected to begin in 2021.
The provincial funding is part of Alberta’s Recovery Plan, a bold ambitious plan to build, diversify and create tens of thousands of jobs now. The new development will target leading hemp innovators to Vegreville.
I was determined to secure the provincial portion of the funding, and I would like to thank Premier Jason Kenney, Infrastructure Minister Prasad Panda and Transportation Minister Ric McIver for making this important investment in Vegreville.
Finally, I’d like to acknowledge the hard work of Mayor McPhee, the town council and the town staff. I especially would like to thank MP Shannon Stubbs for her tireless advocacy. I know first-hand the hard work and dedication that she has to our community. This partnership shows what can be accomplished when all three levels of government work together.
