Thank you for clearing up that the anti-smoking ‘bylaw’ is not actually a bylaw, but a provincial statute. Actually, that is quite significant, Darryl, because the message I got from your previous article was that the town was not stepping up to the plate by either sending bylaw officers to enforce the law or by providing ashtrays. To my knowledge, a provincial statute is under the jurisdiction of the RCMP (I’m open to correction on this if I’m wrong).
No matter how you chose to look at it, calling a Provincial Statute a Bylaw is minor and had absolutely no bearing on the tone or nature of the article in question. It does not matter whose law it is if it is not being enforced. Sorry, but if this is your only defense, you are nitpicking and you have badly “missed the mark”.
