What comes after the Indian Act?

To paraphrase one of my favourite history professors, “It is easier to destroy something than to create something new.”

What a Town Wants, What a Town Needs

The Integrated Community Sustainability Plan focuses on the short-, medium- and long-term planning of the community in 5 key areas: economic and development, governance, environmental and infrastructure, social and recreation and cultural.

A local senior was robbed on Monday afternoon while doing repairs in his yard.

Letter to the Editor

Thank you for clearing up that the anti-smoking ‘bylaw’ is not actually a bylaw, but a provincial statute. Actually, that is quite significant, Darryl, because the message I got from your previous article was that the town was not stepping up to the plate by either sending bylaw officers to enforce the law or by providing ashtrays. To my knowledge, a provincial statute is under the jurisdiction of the RCMP (I’m open to correction on this if I’m wrong).

Smoking on Main Street Vegreville

No matter how you chose to look at it, calling a Provincial Statute a Bylaw is minor and had absolutely no bearing on the tone or nature of the article in question. It does not matter whose law it is if it is not being enforced. Sorry, but if this is your only defense, you are nitpicking and you have badly “missed the mark”.

Donate to Help Vegreville Get a Portable Ultrasound Machine

The Hospital Board is taking donations through paypal to help raise funds for a portable ultrasound machine. The new machine, the Sonosite M-Turbo, is a high performance mobile ultrasound machine that doctors hope to use as a diagnostic tool in the hospital to speed up diagnosis times in patients, allowing doctors to make accurate, informed decisions about patient care in shorter time periods. The mobile ultrasound unit can be applied in areas of care such as Anesthesia, Critical Care, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Women’s Health, Cardiovascular Disease Management, Surgeries and more. With support from the community, this incredibly valuable tool can be added to the list of ways that St. Joseph’s General Hospital works to bring the community better health.
