Beaver County was a bustling hive of activity over the weekend, all part of the Experience the Bounty of Beaver County promotion, led by Kalyna Country in conjunction with the County, the towns of Viking, Holden and Tofield and local businesses and producers.

The Outdoor Market in Viking on Sunday was part of the Experience the Bounty of Beaver County promotional weekend, a self-guided driving tour of Beaver County that offered visitors, and residents, the opportunity to learn more about the County’s history and experience the “Bounty of Beaver County”.
The Bounty of Beaver County promotion is a “self-guided driving route event where visitors can sample fresh homegrown foods, meet local producers and learn about the history of the area – all while enjoying a leisurely drive out in the country,” says Beaver County Community Development Coordinator Julie Ewashko.
The County hosted a great many special events to help showcase local producers and small businesses.
Tofield hosted an Early Bird Farmers Market, Quilt Show and Supper on Friday, Holden was hot spot on Saturday with a Garage/Antique/Vendor Sale, Art Show & Sale and Pig Roast, and on Sunday the action shifted to Viking with a Farmers Market and Outdoor Markets happening simultaneously. The Alberta Country Music Legends Concert and Supper was held in Holden on Sunday afternoon.
Ewashko says the event was a hit and was very successful. It proved to be a learning experience for all involved, “From my travels during that weekend, I do believe that we have to work on getting more people to the rural producers, such as Lions Garden (2 km north of Hwy 14 on Hwy 630) and Paul’s Saskatoon Farm (11 km South of Hwy 14 on Range Road 155 near Holden).”
