Miracle Treat Day on Thursday has helped the Vegreville Dairy Queen raise more than $6,700 for the Children’s Miracle Network.

Sharron’s Frame Shop purchased 38 Blizzard treats from Dairy Queen for Miracle Treat Day, donating the iconic treats to the kids at the Vegreville Community Daycare. The Vegreville Dairy Queen sold 718 Blizzard treats on Thursday to help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The Miracle Network is a ‘non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children raising funds for Canadian children’s hospitals’. Last year, participating Dairy Queens in Canada raised over $2.1 million. The DQ website says that more than $81 million has been raised for the Miracle Network since 1984.
Vegreville DQ owner Joanne Veldkamp says that, being a family restaurant, raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network is ‘good fit’ for Dairy Queen. The Vegreville DQ sold 718 Blizzard Flavor Treats, the iconic DQ ice cream treat in flavors like Oreo, M&M, Strawberry Cheesequake and many, many others. The sale of Blizzards on Thursday represents a significant portion of the $6,700 raised, but that number also includes paper balloon sales and coin collection canisters that go on year round.
Sharron’s Frame Shop purchased 38 of the Blizzards and donated them to the Vegreville Community Daycare for all of the kids. The children were quite excited to be getting ice cream at the mid-afternoon snack.
